Great encouragement to live life fully

I bought this book while browsing at a bookstore and came to amazon.com to order four more copies for gifts. The book is an amazing reminder to consider what is important in life and to keep living. My favorite passage is: "And it's never too late to start something new, to do all those things you've been longing to do." As a counselor in training, I consider the book's message to be appropriate and encouraging, even for people who have "issues" or are going through life struggles.

An encouraging book for the adults

This book is really geared towards adults than children. I enjoyed the message and gave this as a gift to someone who had recently decided to leave their job to strike it on their own. This message hit just the right note. I truly is never too late to make a change that is going to ring true to who you are and what brings you joy. The fact that it's presented as more of a children's books seems to under score that point that, just like children, adults should dream big and go for it. I would recommend this book.

An extremely accurate, professional,deep psychological test

I was introduced to Dr. Luscher's Color Test Chart when a Danish Montessori Director was using it to test children under school age. The test was amazingly accurate 100% of the times I used it and observed it being used. Dr. Luscher was a Swiss Psychiatrist who spent much of his life developing this deep psychological test. While it has never had wide acceptance in America, his work was widely accepted in Europe. In fact, a Volkswagon plant was painted for the desired effects on workers after consulting with Dr. Luscher. In the introduction of his book, he carefully states that the test is very easy to administer but it is a deep psychological test is not a parlor game, and should be used very responsibly. As a professional in the field of Clinical Psychology, I have used this test as a diagnostic tool for many years, although it took me eleven years to find it as it was only available in the Medical Library at New York University, and not available to the public. As de! ep as the test results are, it is incumbant on the test adminstrator to use the information diagnostically and judiciously for the benefit of the patient. If it can be located (and I will not volunteer my copies), it is only meant for the serious, responsible, ethical practioner who will find it to be one of the best diagnositic tools for any age group. Dr. Luscher also wrote two other books which help understand a person by the color choices in their environments. They are also very revealing..and I am not volunteering my copies of these either. Anyone interested should turn up every rock until they can locate Dr. Luscher's wonderful books.

Interesting test but with reservations

I recall being interested in this test when it came out in a Bantam Books edition when I was a young psychology grad student. Based on what's known as functional color psychology, the test uses somewhat off-color panels and their pairings to assess personality dynamics. The reason for why pure colors aren't used for the 8 panels is discussed in the book, so I won't burden you with it here, but it's actually one of the more interesting parts of the theory of color psychology and why the color panels appear as they do.

I played with the test quite a bit at the time and although found it interesting and perhaps valid, the entire area of color psychology, although fascinating, still seems to me to be a bit of a stretch as far as using it for any real depth psychological purposes. I haven't looked in detail at the research used to standardize the test, so I can't say for sure, but in my own case I found the test best for determining when I was under stress. At other times it seemed less accurate, and my results could vary from day to day.

Also, as another poster here commented, the descriptions for the results, although they sound clinical and fairly specific, can be switched around and read to people and they will agree as much with them as with the supposedly correct diagnosis or interpretation in the book.

The field of color psychology is much more prevalent in Europe than in the U.S., but the most I would say is that the test should be used in conjunction with other tests, which is likely how it is used, anyway, rather than as a single diagnostic tool. It might also be used as a quick assessment tool in Europe to be followed up by the longer, more detailed personality and diagnostic tests such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory or MMPI, the Rorschach Inkblot test, and so on. However I give the book 4 stars for effort since it is a fascinating concept and could still be useful.

a fascinating book if you are interested in self analysis. ususally skeptical about systems of analysis based on color, birth or numerology, but this one was right on target. the book is well written, insightful and readily provides analysis into your personality.

Get the gavel out

Lane Stanford is in the closet because she's a judge and her father has big aspiration plans for her future. But she's not really so closeted because for her one night stands and brief flings she's Renee. And when she's Renee she's in full control and gets what she wants. Then her friends and her save a pretty woman from some nasty customers and cupid strikes Lane. Ali Castle has a dark history of her own, but she's never met anyone quite like Lane. How do they finally connect and what do each of them have to give up to make their possible relationship work and last.

This does not even come close to her other novel 'The Real Story' which I loved. If you're into self loathing and angst then I definitely recommend this book. The author decided to throw caltrops down for the last 20% of the book and says, sorry... you'll have no trouble walking through all that to the end. And sorry for the barbed wire you had to walk through all the mistrust, lack of communication, womanizing that I'm sure you just love to read about. So yea, if that's your gig then this is right up your alley.

A great romance with great characters and wonderful love scenes.

Judge Me Not gives the reader 326 pages of great characters, a deep love story, and some great scenes between the sheets. Lane Stanford has a demanding father who wants her to move beyond being a District Court Judge. Lane has been trying to follow her father's demands, even though they mean attending a lot of functions which take up much of her free time. She does have one event which feeds her spirit: a regularly scheduled dinner with close friends. It's during one of these dinners that she observes the men at the next table harassing their waitress. She asks the restaurant owner to switch waitresses, so her table gets Ali, the harassed waitress, and the men get a male waitor.
Lane has been with many women, but she's not prepared for Ali's deep blue eyes, great smile and great curves.
Layer has fully developed both Ali and Lane, and the reader is able to know the motivations and needs of each woman. This is an excellent read which had me turning the pages while I put any activities on the back burner which didn't involve reading!

Now if you've seen the title of this review and my rating don't get me wrong I love DELTORA. It's just that I hate this book. It was awful and the only reason I don't give it one star is I have to give the benefit of the doubt: it's Deltoran! If you just read THE CAVERN OF THE FEAR and wish to purchase THE ISLE OF ILLUSION (which is no doubt the case) take my advice and don't. It's completely horrible and not worthy of having DELTORA at the top. Just keep on truckin' to THE SHADOWLANDS that you'll find if you scroll up a little. Trust me the one part where there is action is in the three chapters before the last and the rest of it is dull and boring. I beg of you DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!

In this book, Lief, Barda, and Jasmine face even more dangers and make more frineds. The first tribe said that this tribe would most likely murder them on site, and bred evil monsters in the sea. None of this is true. While they discover the truth about the island, they are in grave danger. I very much enjoyed this book, and very much recommend it.

Good Introduction

This is a very good introductory book on Graph Theory. If you don't want to be overwhelmed by Doug West's, etc., and yet receive a decent introduction to the topic, this book is your best bet. It covers all the topics required for an advanced undergrad course or a graduate level graph theory course for Math, engineering, operations research or computer science students in good depth and details. There are good examples and interesting exercises; some computer codes (JAVA) are also available in the book implementing some of the algorithms.

I would say O.R. and CS people will benefit a lot from it both as a reference or a textbook if adapted for a one semester graduate course. The only drawback is the price!

Perhaps my most underlined book

This is another great book from Feig. Unlike his previous books that went in depth on marketing research and product development, this book covers the whole water front of marketing.
When I quickly scanned the book I didn't like that Feig was getting outside of the specialty I had him pigeon-holed in. But, when I read the book I was extremely pleased. The subtitle to his book is "Hundreds of Proven-Effective Marketing and Sales Strategies for Every Business Situation." Well, this is exactly what the book delivered. There were probably several hundred such tips, tricks and strategies.
The book is easy to read. It is much more organized than his previous books. Like his previous books it contains lots of real life examples to illustrate the point he is making.
Below I list the chapter headings and because of word limitations on these reviews, I only comment on the first several chapters:
1) Proven Strategies to Build Marketing Success (I liked one of his sections "Six Quick Product Marketing Strategies." It recommended: 1) Develop new uses, 2) Make a minor cosmetic change, 3) Develop a new name, 4) Make it more convenient, 5) Put in a new performance que, 6) Make the product fun.)
2) Strategies for Developing Action Plans (I really liked his Segmentation Strategies section, and his discussions on Emotional Hot Buttons)
3) Strategies for Conducting Successful Market Research ("The poorest view of the market is from your office." This chapter is Feig's specialty, and it shows. He's put in information not found in his previous books. I really liked his discussion on how to use focus groups effectively. Feig is known for his position that focus groups should only react to what you show them, not try to intellectualize or brainstorm with you. You want them to "react just like they do in the real world." He really covers what not to do, which I found important.)
4) Strategies for Written Communictions and Presentations (This was an OK chapter. The points about how people remember things when you are moving was very helpful. This also demonstrates Feig's perceptive psychological grasp of things.)
5) Strategies to Implement Marketing Programs and Advertising
6) Strategies for Choosing Advertising Agencies and Other Suppliers
7) Strategies for Point of Sale, Impulse Items, and Trade Shows
8) Strategies for Pricing and Adding Value
9) Sellingand Marketing Strategies that Create Record Sales
10) Strategies for Speeding up the New Product Developement
11) Strategies For Making Distributors and Merchants Ecstatic
12) Proven Strategies for Turnaround Situations and Repositionings
13) Strategies to Make Your Package and Product Name Sell... Sell... Sell
14) Stragies for Marketing Through the New Media
15) Stratgies for Fund Raising (I didn't read this one)
16) Strategies for Cashing in on Business Alliances
17) Private Label Strategies Pay Off for Retailers and Suppliers Alike (This was really new material for me. I liked it alot)

20) Exploring Alternative Marketing Strategies
It's a big book, with lots of topics. Each chapter was a goldmine of ideas. He has a very perceptive and practical grasp of how marketing and sales works.

In my opinion, you should buy this book, combined with Frankland's other book the "Pipe Trades Pocket Manual", and IPT's "Pipe Trades Handbook". With the three of these books, you should be able to handle about 95% of problems you will encounter in the field. If you want to learn how to make templates for pipe, I would suggest you buy Frankland's Book, "Pipe Template Layout" along with Rick Eisenbarth's book, "The Ultimate Template and Layout Pattern Book for Pipefitters and Welders".

Back to this book. The information is presented very clearly. It also provides valuable tricks of the trade that will save you time and money.

What an uplifting story.

I read 70x7+Beyond not expecting all that much. I had won 2 Frank Peretti books in an online auction, and the seller out of kindness sent me this 3rd book for free. It just happened to be this little book written by Monty Christensen. Well, a few months after reading the Perreti books, I decided I'd give the extra book a shot. Honestly, I don't even recall having put the book down for more than a few hours once I started! The feeling of abandonment while reading about Christensen as a child, the feeling of desperation for him to get out of the drug scene, the disappointment of going in and out of jail and prison, of treating his wife like someone he had just met on the street, and all in the middle of this, the mercy and forgiveness of the LORD just sitting there waiting for him to repent and change his ways.
Trust me, if you've never read this book, please go out and obtain a copy as quickly as you can. I guarantee you will luv it!

Making It Real--Bringing It Home

I first read Monty Christensen's 70x7 and Beyond soon after moving to Billings, Montana and receiving this free book from a fund-raising dinner the author spoke at. The fund-raiser was put on to raise money for the completion of the new Montana Women's Prison chapel that had just been built. This book is down-to earth and comes directly from one man's life and death struggle with alcohol, drugs and crime. The beautiful part of the whole book is the honest flavor of grace Monty is able express, proving to the onlooking world that God's grace is able to forgive even beyond 70x7 times. I just looked up this book on the web because I will soon send it to a friend who is now incarcerated. He, like me is not even 25 yet and he needs to know that his life is still just beginning and there is hope. I have been blessed by this book and recommend it to all who may be looking for a truthful dose of hope.

Absolutely Riveting!

My husband is in prison and sent me this book. When I started reading it, I was shocked because Monty's childhood was a blueprint for my husband's and his adulthood was incredibly similar as well. His and Holly's marriage was a blueprint for my marriage, and I fully identified with Holly's struggles. I could not put this book down and at the end I cried until I could not cry anymore and then I poured my heart out to God. I have recommended this book more than I have any other and my copy is getting passed around constantly. I am ordering additional copies to send to family and friends. God bless Monty and Holly for sharing their story. It is one everyone should hear.
