Loved it

This is probably one of my very favorite books by Alger that I have read so far.
Though not as heart warming as some it definitely touch some soft spots.
I constantly found my self laughing out loud (my family was like whaaa?)
From hilarious episodes about a teacher to spine chilling kidnappings and a super scary, and exciting encounter between Julius and an old enemy I was completely glued to this.
Always coming out on top though cool courage and integrity our hero makes an awesome character to read about.
I did not like the choice of words in one spot where some boys call their self conceited teacher a Jacka*s and there were quite a few typos.
But in overall I loved it and I would definitely buy again.

A classic Horatio Alger story. Julius is a likeable boy who's grown up in very difficult circumstances. He takes the opportunities he is given to overcome all his obstacles, and, through his hard work, gains the respect and trust of everyone he knows. The writing is a little old-fashioned, but the story is solid.
